A DAY IN THE BAY WITH LAUREN HILL
My favourite days in Byron revolve around two things: the ocean and the markets.
Being the paradise that it is, you can pretty much always find a wave in the Northern Rivers region, whether you want to be amongst a crowd, or alone. Even when the wind's been howling northerly for days, it's always worth a sneaky slide at our home beach.
As for the markets, there are many in the area, and one of my favourites is the Byron Sunday market, held on the 4th Sunday of every month. It brims with all the boho trinkets and treasures you'd ever want, plus some really tasty food.
There's really one motivator that gets me out of the ocean and to the market every time it comes to town: icecream fruit sundays. It's bananas and strawberries pressed into a creamy consistency and topped with carob sauce, blueberries and pecans. The best treat on a steamy spring or summer beach day in Byron Bay...
