Bella's Hawaii Top Ten

My Best of Hawaii (in no particular order!)

1. Go for a surf at Waikiki Beach

Surfing at Waikiki is one of my favourite things to do in Hawaii. Its the ideal place to learn to surf or have a bit of fun on a longboard with friends, and looks exactly like every picture-perfect postcard you’ve seen.

2. Eat a plate of garlic shrimp at Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck

If you’re a seafood lover, this is a must do! The best garlic shrimp I’ve ever tasted… if you’re not a fan of shrimp then theres a few other tasty options on the menu as well!

3. Watch/surf Pipeline

Possibly one of the primary reasons for tourism in the area, when the swell is there, its definitely a sight to see! If you’re around the North Shore during the Pipe Pro it’s a must watch.

4. Get a bulletproof coffee from the sunrise shack

Coffee Coffee Coffee…

Not too many coffee stores around the North Shore, but for your daily caffein fix, try the popular ‘Sunrise Shack’. If you wanna try a little something different try the Bullet proof coffee (coffee with added grass-fed butter & Brain Octane oil).

5. Take a full island helicopter tour from Turtle Bay Resort

Easiest way to see all of Oahu’s breath-taking sights within the space of 45 mins… round trip helicopter ride! If you’re thinking of taking a ride but not sure where, I wouldn’t even consider anywhere else than Hawaii, by far one of my favourite thing to do on the North Shore!

6. California Pizza Kitchen, Waikiki

I like my food, (especially the greasy kind…) and I can never go past the California Pizza Kitchen. After a day in Honolulu surfing Waikiki, there’s nothing better than parking up with a nice view and eating a pizza.

7. Eat a snow cone from Matsumoto Shaved ice

I’m not a fan of ice-cream, but shaved ice is a winner. Worth the drive from anywhere on the island and is super refreshing on a hot day!

8. Visit Waimea Bay and jump off the rock

For a bit of a thrill, the Waimea rock jump is a heck of a lot of fun. Not to be done on low tide since the water level gets pretty low. When the swell is big, watching some surfing at Waimea is a fun thing to do as well.

9. Walk the Ehukai Pillbox hike (also known as the Sunset pillbox hike)

For an average lengthed trek with an incredible view at the end, the Ehukai Pillbox hike (located behind Sunset Elementary School) is ideal. My favourite walk on the island with a view over the North Shore from Waimea to Turtle Bay.

10. Snorkel at sharks cove

My favourite snorkelling place on the North Shore is in and around Sharks Cove. On a calm day, there’s submerged caves that you can swim through for a bit of a thrill. Also there is a store across the road where you can rent snorkelling gear (so you don’t have to cramp your suitcase with your own gear).
