Billabong Pro Tahiti 2016- Day 2
The 2016 Billabong Pro Tahiti began today with round one action and 4-8 ft surf with clean conditions all day long. Some heats were slightly more consistent than others, but when waves came through it was perfect looking Teahupoo.
Highlights from the day included John John Florence's 18.40 heat total and all out mastering of his heat. There was also a solid performance put in by Italo Ferreira where he was able to use his near perfect technique to make late drops and position himself deep in the barrel. He moved straight through into round 3.
By around 3 o'clock the contest was called off due to inconsistent conditions, but not before finishing all of round 1 giving a solid first day of competition. Tomorrow(Sunday) through Tuesday looks to be the best conditions of the waiting period, so we could see the contest finishing by then.
