Billabong & Surfaid Partnership to prevent mother and child suffering and death.
We’ve recently partner with SurfAid and we couldn’t be more proud to sponsor SurfAid’s Mother and Child Health program in Nias.
The program aims to prevent mother and child suffering and death. The latest Indonesian statistics show that every three hours a mother dies in childbirth, while every hour 20 babies die. Half of these babies are less than one month old. In remote areas these figures are worse. We provide a mix of practical support, education and health promotion that aims to change poor health behaviours into positive behaviours. Simple basic stuff, really, but with huge effects!

Billabong is also committed to furthering SurfAid’s mission to improve the health, wellbeing, and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions near some of the world’s most iconic destinations.

Clean water and sanitation is one of the focus for this program. This can mean the end of diarrhoea which, for children under five years of age, means having a real chance to survive in remote areas.
