Courtney Conlogue WINS In Portugal
A huge, enthusiastic round of applause goes out to Courtney Conlogue who defeated Tyler Wright at the Cascais Women's Pro in Portugal!
The final heats of the 2016 Cascais Women's Pro did not disappoint. The battle for the yellow WSL Jeep Leader Jersey continues. Southern California native and current World No. 2 Courtney Conlogue gave hundreds of locals and spectators a fierce show at the Cascais Women's Pro. Over halfway through her strongest CT season yet, she was delivering even more strength and beauty in the water than ever before. Conlogue was determined and focused, hunting down opportunities, and her energetic approach was rewarded.
The first day of the competition was unpredictable for many, but the world's best Courtney Conlogue led the charge for total top-seed domination. Her Round Two heat was equally as crucial as her first heat to keep her in front of the pack, in which she advanced directly to the Quarterfinals. Throughout the competition it was unwaveringly clear that Courtney had her eyes fixated on keeping herself in the world title race and defending her championship title at this event in Portugal. Courtney Conlogue entered the Cascais Women's Pro with just one job to do: finish ahead of Tyler Wright and she did just that and some. She unleashed on her backhand and secured an 8.17, the best wave of the heat, for a 13.00 two-wave heat total and the win. She was firing each and every heat - powerful, decisive, and aggressive. A triple threat in the water.
A very well deserved victory & enormous congratulations for our local gal Courtney Conlogue! The next stop on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy WSL Women’s Championship Tour is the Roxy Pro France which commences on October 4th.
