• Lauren Hill in the Maldives

Surfer Lauren Hill visited the Maldives (lucky girl!). Here's what she had to say about the magical place:

Each tiny Maldivian islet we pass is fringed by heavy coconut palms and ringed in concentric bands of chrysoprase, turquoise, and lapis lazuli. And despite the billion options for inspired wordsmithery, the phrase that keeps coming to mind is: ‘I feel like I’m in a screensaver'.

Thankfully, paradise is not only a technological figment of the imagination.

The 1,192 islands of the Republic of Maldives are the very definition of tropical dreaminess. The country is formed atop a submarine mountain range in the Indian Ocean, comprised of 26 natural atolls, rings of reef that encircle lapis hued deep water lagoons, where sandy cays and islets of coralline origin lay just above sea level.
