Lilliana's Backyard | Noosa Heads
A couple of weeks back I teamed up with photographer Ben Osborne to capture some shots for Billabong Women’s Australia. The last shoot I did was on the tropical island of Ohau, Hawaii but this time we decided to shoot in and around my beautiful home town of Noosa Heads, on the Sunshine Coast. We arranged to meet at first light on the morning of the shoot and then we all jumped in my families VW van and headed off to one of the more secret areas of this normally very busy beachside town.
After taking a short car ferry and driving along some dirt tracks, we arrived at a secluded stretch of beach that even had some waist to shoulder high waves with nobody out! I surfed alone on both my longboard and shortboard whilst Ben swam and shot all the action. After a couple of hours to ourselves, the wind came up and it was time to find the next location.
As we were driving home along the edge of the river I noticed the sand bars in the middle of the river, they reminded me of mini desert islands and I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to be stranded on one of them. So, next minute I’m paddling into the centre of the Noosa river with my log and my beach umbrella and Bens launching his drone. The shots came out amazing and they really do represent my ‘bikini kinda life’.
We ended the day cruising town on my bike and skatey and even managed to get a few more waves with some friends at First Point. What a day! Noosa is such a beautiful place, with beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and perfect waves to suit all levels of surfing. I love living here, living in my bikinis 24/7, having fun and acting totally crazy around the town, just like a grom should.
