We thought the sharp looking kid with the Hawaiian twang would be causing enough damage with the ladies in Newcastle this week, but turns out Granger Larsen had his eyes fixed on a prize far grander than tail. Putting his frontside fin waft to fine use in paltry Newcastle surf won him the grade two pro junior on Sunday. He beat some kid called Ty Watson in the final. It’s the first win for Granger on Australian soil, a good result, because we all know the Aussie junior series is by far the hardest. Owen Wright skipped the lower rated contest, but there were a few shredders there, including Tamaroa and Davey Cathels. Nice work Granger, shoots from your Aussie mates at Billabong.
