Surfer Mag x Billabong present the ‘Ron Stoner’ Collection
The ‘Ron Stoner’ Collection
Back in the swinging 60s era, Ron Stoner was the best surf photographer in the business. An original master of surf photography, in his time he landed numerous covers of Surfer Magazine thanks to his ability to capture the colourful culture of Southern Californian’s surf and beach community on film.
Today, many photographers continue to cite him as a great influence in their work. Sadly, at the height of his career he walked off this sunny stage we call life and mysteriously disappeared forever. This season, Billabong is honored by the opportunity it has been given to reintroduce RonΓÇÖs iconic images of balmy beaches, bikini-clad girls and achingly perfect waves into our collection.
The exclusive range has four tees and a pair of boardshorts, all featuring the king of colourΓÇÖs majestic photos screen printed onto a soft jersey cotton. The boardshorts are a tribute to StonerΓÇÖs iconic balloon photo which features an old school log slider in the background. The range captures the essence and innocent grace of the Californian coast prior to its condominium developments and is a poignant tribute to a lost era and a lost man.
