Billabong rashies and wetsuits are designed for great performance and comfort so you can #SurfAllDay. Now that you have one of those bad boys it is essential that you take care of it properly, below are some tips to extend the life of your wetsuit..
Taking care of your rashies are not much different than looking after your favourite swimwear, the firts thing you need to do just after each wear is to rinse it with fresh cool water (don't use hot water). Avoid washers is better if to hand wash it with a gentle biodegradable soap to help remove the salt. Turn your rashie inside out when washing and drying. Finally use a heavy, padded hanger to store or hang your rashie, never use a dryer!
1. ALWAYS RINSE YOUR WETSUIT WITH COLD WATER
After your session rinse your suit in fresh water.
2. WHEN RINSING YOUR WETSUIT
To extend the life and softness of the neoprene, occasionally wash your wetsuit in cold water with a small amount of mild detergent, rinse then hang in the shade to dry.
3. HANG YOUR WETSUIT ON A SHADOW SPOT TO DRY IT.
It’s best to use a broad shoulder plastic hanger, like the one we supplied with the wetsuit, do not use a thin metal hanger it can damage the shoulders of the suit, and hang it in a shady spot to drip dry.
4. DRY IT INSIDE OUT.
That will help to keep the flexibility of your wetsuit as well as avoid a smelly wetsuit
5. THE WASHING MACHINE IS A NO GO!
Don't put your valuable wetsuit in the washing machine or the dryer. Excessive heat from a dryer can damage the integrity of the neoprene. If you want to wash your wetsuit don't use washing detergent, stain remover, fabric softener, olive oil, jet fuel, etc, this damages the neoprene and life of your wetsuit.
6. WAX WILL GET TO YOUR WETSUIT
Wax may get on your suit from regular wear, this is cool and won’t effect the performance of the suit. If you must, you can remove it from either warm water and mild detergent or ice, to harden the wax and then pick it off.
7. STORE YOUR WETSUIT PROPERLY.
Store your wetsuit flat or folded as the chart below
